Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed the Glasgow School of Art in 1896. Today, over one hundred years later, the Glasgow School of Art is still a hard working art school attracting talented students from all over the world. The Mackintosh Building continues to be admired and respected and has taken its place as one of the most influential and significant structures of the twentieth century.
As it is still a working art school, the Mackintosh Building can only be visited by guided tour. Tour tickets may be reserved by calling, emailing or purchased from the Mackintosh Shop in the entrance hall of the Glasgow School of Art. The shop has a wide selection of gifts, books, prints and postcards.
As well as offering guided tours, the School is also unique as a venue, offering the combination of original Mackintosh surroundings with the innovative atmosphere of a working art school. Three impressive rooms are often available for hire, each one providing the ideal setting for receptions, dinners, product launches or meetings.
