Australia and PNG sign tourism cooperative

Australia’s tourism minister has signed an agreement with Papua New Guinea for improved bilateral cooperation on tourism.

The document was signed by Martin Ferguson and his PNG counterpart, Charles Abel, during the Australia-PNG Ministerial Forum in Madang.

Mr Ferguson says the tourism framework “signals a new commitment to closer cooperation in a sector of fundamental importance” for the two countries.

The framework for greater cooperation on tourism will include ecotourism, sustainable tourism development and the protection and preservation of natural and cultural resources as an important part of the tourism experience.
